Here is my first limerick that I wrote for the Starkhafn Anniversary 2019 Bardic Competition where the theme was about giants. This is a really rough first draft; however, everyone seemed to love it and so I hope you do as well!
There once was a giant named Gan,
Who was bigger than any known man,
He was strong and quite fit,
And, come to think of it,
Was stronger than any in his clan!
So into world he conquered,
He battered and bambled and slaughtered,
He went with his mace, to a kingdom with haste,
And take over the queen who was, quite pampered.
The Queen was quite elegant and fair,
With emerald eyes and raven black hair,
With a smirk and a glance, the giant fell for her, in a trance,
And decided in that moment to bed her.
Well that monster had not realized around there,
That the queen was a witch and a seer.
And so alone in the dim,
She decided to hex him,
And kept him all giant, except down there.
And so with great fury but fright,
The giant tried to beat her with might,
But in a moment like that,
She turned him into a rat,
And continued her reign with beauty and light.
